The Vero Amore Story
Vero Amore--meaning True Love in Italian--is the perfect name for our Italian restaurants. After falling in love with the “perfect pizza” in Italy, we decided to bring genuine Neapolitan pizza to Southern Arizona.
First, we trained extensively in the traditional culinary art of Neapolitan pizza-making and searched for the finest-quality ingredients available. Our hard work paid off when Vero Amore was certified as an authentic Neapolitan pizzeria by Italy’s world-renowned Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana Academy (VPN).
Today, Vero Amore is one of only a few dozen VPN certified pizzerias in the U.S. We adhere to the strict traditional Neapolitan pizza-making standards set-forth by VPN. One of the VPN requirements (as well as a reason our pizza is so amazing) is our oven. Made of volcanic stone from Mount Vesuvius and weighing over 5,000 pounds, the oven is an asset to our organization and only gets better with age. It was hand-built outside of Naples Italy, shipped to Los Angeles and put on a flat bed truck to be delivered to our Swan Road location.
We opened the original Vero Amore on Swan Road and Camp Lowell in 2006. Two years later, we opened Vero Amore Dove Mountain in Marana. (In 2011, we opened Tucson’s only true Gastropub, Noble Hops, in Oro Valley. Visit NobleHopsPub.com for menus and additional information.)
Sometimes good food takes hard work and like everything we do in our restaurants, we are unwilling to sacrifice quality and will do whatever it takes to make the best product possible.
Our fresh pizza dough is delicately hand-pressed and then wood-fired in the 800+ degree wood-burning pizza oven. Rich pizza sauce is made exclusively from San Marzano tomatoes, which only grow on the volcanic plains near Mount Vesuvius. Mozzarella is made fresh every day and only toppings made from the highest quality local, regional and imported ingredients available are used. A curated wine list complements our Italian cuisine.
Our homemade dishes, sauces and dressings are always fresh, healthy and made to order. Vegetarian and Gluten-Free dishes are always available.
